A twin study of state and trait anxiety in childhood and adolescence

Article Abstract:

Twin studies were undertaken and one found that the measures of adolescents' self-reported trait anxiety could be best explained by shared environmental factors. The other study found that around half the variance was contributed to be genetic effects. A new study found similar conclusions to those of Topolski and colleagues and measures of state anxiety conformed closely to the findings of Thapar and McGuffin.

Adolescent twins discordant for major depressive disorder: shared familial liability to externalizing and other internalizing disorders

Article Abstract:

An examination of anxiety disorders, substance use disorders and childhood externalizing disorders in carried out between 624 seventeen year old sets of twins. The results show a familial liability between major depressive disorder (MDD) and internalizing as well as externalizing disorders in adolescents.

Sex differences, assortative mating, and cultural transmission effects on adolescent delinquency: a twin family study

Article Abstract:

Research designed to investigate the etiology of delinquency in adolescence and assortative mating and transmission effects is presented. This work highlighted the link between environmental factors and individual differences in delinquency among adolescents.
