Avoiding paternalism

Article Abstract:

Government policies, such as drug and prostitution laws, strike as paternalistic because the paternalistic reasons for these policies strikes as the most compelling, at least when antipaternalistic guard is down. The principle of antipaternalism warranted by the difficulty of drawing a principled line between justifiable and unjustifiable forms of paternalism.
