Article Abstract:
The World Trade Organization (WTO) Antidumping Agreement represents the first global agreement concerning antidumping and could have significant effects in combination with the WTO's mechanism for dispute settlement. Major provisions of the agreement cover investigation procedures, standing, method of calculating dumping margins, sampling, sales below cost, de minimus dumping margins, and negligible import share. The history of the negotiations is also discussed.

Research is presented concerning the analysis of 49 cases which include 141 company-specific dumping findings by the US Department of Commerce between 1995 and 1998 to determine the effectiveness of the antidumping law.
