Leading the dance? Power and political resources of business lobbyists

Article Abstract:

An argument that the difficulties with power and influence concern not only the operationalisation of business-government relations, but they also reflect conceptual confusions, is presented through case studies in the United States and the European Union. It is more promising to look at resource distribution and the interdependence on both sides, instead of assuming the dominations of business power over policy outcomes, even when the business appears to lead the dance.

Focusing events, mobilization, and agenda setting

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to analyze events, group mobilization and agenda-setting associated with public policy processes. The impact of natural disasters and industrial accidents on policy domain was also examined in the study. Results indicated that focusing events led to the mobilization of groups supporting differences in domain type. Findings also showed that the importance of group politics in establishing agenda and promoting new policy concepts.

Business and political dimensions in disaster management

Article Abstract:

This article discusses crisis management literature aimed at helping business managers addressing disasters. The author asserts that these do not fully comprehend policy and political aspects of business disasters.
