Global capitalism and labor at the end of History

Article Abstract:

Francis Fukuyama's thesis that the decline of Communism and socialism, and ascent of liberal capitalism signify an end of History is disputable on two counts. Fukuyama argues that liberal capitalism has established an Absolute Idea of human reason and freedom, which according to Georg W. Hegel, constitutes the end of historical evolution. However, global capitalism's exploitation of cheap labor, at the cost of high-wage earners, will generate a process of global proletarianization. Such a process will prompt workers to unite globally, over time, to fight for their rights.
