Article Abstract:
Adarand's impact on affirmative action policy in federal human resources management (HRM) is examined and the importance of Grutter and Gratz to potential policy change is considered. The analysis leads to the conclusion that the constitutional flexibility to use racial, ethnic, and gender goals and timetables to promote diversity in federal employment simply does not make much difference, except possibly for the smallest minority groups.

'Family friendly' policies of employers are more broadly defined as 'worker friendly' policies and a fourfold typology of these worker friendly policy types is presented. All individual policies along a proemployer and proemployee axis were scored and the placement of average score for each policy type was determined and the policy types were placed into one of four quadrants along the axis.
