Article Abstract:
China has well-developed trade links with the countries of the European Union (EU). It is currently the fourth-largest source of EU imports and the seventh-largest market for EU exports. China is also a primary target of the EU's antidumping practice. Of the 141 antidumping measures in force as of the end of 1997, 32 measures concerned products from China. The enforcement of these measures has led to the exclusion of these Chinese products from the EU market even though some observers believe the EU's methodology may be discriminatory to China.

Article Abstract:
The establishment of a customs union between Turkey and the European Union (EU) on Jan 1, 1996, is the most radical change ever implemented in the Balkan nation's trading system. The custom union, which is part of Turkey's long-range plan to win acceptance as a full member of the EU, has helped to accelerate the liberalization and deregulation of the country's industrial sector. It has also forced Turkey to adopt measures that approximate the EU's 'acquis communautaire.'
