Article Abstract:

The United Nations Conference on Disarmament 2000 concluded its annual negotiating session without starting any talks regarding disarmament issues or arms control. The 66 conference members were unable to reach any consensus on nuclear disarmament and the prevention of an outer space arms race.

Space weapons, missile defense systems, and disarmament were the main barriers to negotiation at the annual United Nations Conference on Disarmament. The roots of the Conference's fruitless Sept 21, 2000 adjournment are analyzed.
