Determining DMDM hydantoin in personal cleansing products

Article Abstract:

Research results indicate that it is possible to measure free formaldehyde and demethylol dimethylhydantoin in personal cleansing products by applying reverse-phase HPLC and post-column derivatization. Positive results were obtained for several prototype product formulations. Making the described technique useful as an analytical tool will require further development work, however.

Chitosan: a deodorizing component

After several studies of other substances, use of chitosan in deodorants is found to be strongly effective due to its low irritation rate, comfortable feel to the skin, and ability to maintain the adherence of perfumes.
