Cytotoxic activity of Coumarins from the fruits of Cnidium monnieri on Leukemia cell lines

Article Abstract:

Tests have shown that the ethanol extract of CmF (Cnidii monnieri Fructus) exhibited strong effects on human leukemia (HL-60), cervical carcinoma (HeLa) and colorectal carcinoma cells (CoLo 205). Osthol and imperatorin are indicated to be cytotoxic marker substances in the fruits of Cnidium monnieri.

Article Abstract:

Shikonin exhibits anti-cancer activity, but the underlying mechanisms are poorly understood. It is suggested that shikonin-induced apoptosis of SK-Hep-1 cells proceeds by an oxidative stress-mediated pathway.
