Article Abstract:
German BASF invested DM 60mn in a new facility to produce caprolactam from adipodinitrile (ADN). Using this new procedure, raw material costs are lower with a higher yield. The by-product ammonium sulphate will not be produced. Also, lower investments were necessary compared to the cyclohexane-benzol procedure. The new facility has an annual capacity of 1,000 t of caprolactam and about 1,000 t of hexamethylendiamine (HMD).
