BASF kauft Butandiol-Technologie von Kvaerner

Article Abstract:

BASF of Germany and Kvaerner Process Technology of the UK have signed an agreement according to which BASF is to get the right to use Kvaerner's technology for the production of butandiol by esterifying maleic anhydride. A demonstration plant is to be put into operation in Ludwigshafen in 1998. BASF is to integrate the new technology with its own technology to produce maleic anhydride out of butane. At present, BASF is operating two butandiol plants and building a new factory in South Korea.
