Antifungal chromans inhibiting the mitochondrial respiratory chain of pea seeds and new xanthones from Calophyllum caledonicum

Article Abstract:

The antifungal activity of two new xanthones, isolated from the hexane-soluble extract of the stem bark of a Calophyllum caledonicum, and seven other known compounds, against the growth of the human pathogenic fungus Aspergillus fumigatus was investigated. Tests showed that some of the compounds markedly reduced the respiration of pea seed mitochondria.

A deglucosylated metabolite of paeoniflorin of the root of Paeonia lactiflora and its pharmacokinetics in rats

Article Abstract:

Paeoniflorin is a bioactive monoterpene glucoside in Paeoniae Radix (PR), the roots of Paeonia lactiflora (Ranunculaceae). Investigations reveal that rats and pigs are appropriate models for investigating the metabolism and pharmacokinetics of paeoniflorin.

Cardiovascular effects induced by reticuline in normotensive rats

Article Abstract:

The cardiovascular effects of reticuline in normotensive rats are demonstrated using a combined in vitro and in vivo approach. Results showed that reticuline induces hypotension in rats, which is probably due to a decrease in peripheral vascular resistance.
