Andrographis paniculata in the treatment of upper respiratory tract infections: a systematic review of safety and efficacy

Article Abstract:

The leaves of Andrographis paniculatam, are used traditionally in Ayurvedic, Thai and Chinese medicine to treat fever associated with infectious diseases. A systematic review of reports on the administration of A. paniculata in humans concluded that it is effective in the treatment of uncomplicated upper respiratory tract infections.

Hydroxylation and glucosidation of ent-16beta-hydroxybeyeran-19-oic acid by Bacillus megaterium and Aspergillus niger

Article Abstract:

The ent-16beta-hydroxybeyeran-19-oic acid is known to possess antihypertensive properties. Structural modification of the acid by microbial transformation was carried out in order to derive novel and more effective compounds.

Antihyperglycemic effect of andrographolide in streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats

Article Abstract:

Tests on streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats (STZ-diabetic rats) and normal rats, suggest that andrographolide can increase the glucose utilization to lower plasma glucose in diabetic rats lacking insulin.
