Globalization is leading to distinct changes in capital markets and is influencing investment decisions of Australians. International indices influence institutions and companies in what they do to enhance shareholder value. Royal Dutch, with primary listing in the Netherlands and Shell in London, is discussed as an example of a dual-listed company. Unilever is another Anglo-Dutch example. BHP and Brambles, both in Australia, are in a joint venture, BHP Billiton. Rio Tinto in Australia is discussed.
