Not so super changes

Article Abstract:

The federal government of Australia seems to be opposed to removing one, and certainly two, of the taxes of the superannuation system. The superannuation industry has long hoped that the three-tiered tax structure would be simplified. Tax proposals are reviewed. Tables give key 12/01 dates, extensive data on mortgage products and bond yields and on listed property trusts.

The tax barrier on change

Article Abstract:

Retirees are unhappy with their allocated pension's performance. They are advised to consider how a change may affect their tax position before planning to change providers or before setting up their own self-managed super funds on the assumption they can do better themselves and avoid shelling out fees in the process.

Article Abstract:

The importance of retirement planning is discussed. The quantum of salary that must be set aside to meet the future requirements is also analyzed. The benefits of tax-advantaged superannuation fund are highlighted in this context.
