The importance of keeping private funds separate from loan accounts used for income producing purposes is emphasized as the tax office views each redraw as a new borrowed funds which cannot be traced to the extra repayments that may have been paid. Taxpayers are not allowed to deduct taxes on interests when redrawn funds are used for private purposes and they are allowed to claim only interest on the original reduced loan amount.
