Article Abstract:

The process of starting an investment portfolio at a young age is explained. The influence parents have on their children, making them young investors is talked about along with the idea of the family investing together and then the children wanting to retain the investment unit for the long term as an additional source, and as leverage for future borrowing.

Australians who invest in do-it-yourself superannuation funds should be realize that if they move their fund and create a new trust deed they will have to pay a capital gains tax. Trustees can be changed without creating a new trust deed and that will not incur capital gains taxes.
