Constipation is the reduction of fewer than two bowel movements weekly. There is a variety of factors that contributes to this discomfort. Water consumption, fiber in the diet, lack of exercise, medications, underactive thyroid gland, and hampered nerve endings are some of the contributors to bowel irregularity. If symptoms continue, it is advisable to seek medical help to determine if there are more serious neurological problems or bowel obstructions.
