Article Abstract:
US Energy Sec Bill Richardson has acknowledged that both the US government and its contractors were not transparent with the public and the workers about potential contamination resulting from nuclear weapons work as well as the need for cleanup. He made the admission in relation to USA Today publication's probe of the health and environmental records of private companies hired by the government to produce and process radioactive and toxic material in the 1940s and 1950s. Richardson stressed that the incumbent administration would continue being aggressive in identifying sites that need to be cleaned up and paying restitution to workers who suffer ill health because they were contaminated.

A survey by the USA Today publication of 180 former winners of its 'All- USA Academic First Team for Community and Junior Colleges' recognition program provides insights as to all that community colleges can be. Many graduates of two-year community college courses said in the survey that their two-year college experience was as good or better than their experience at four-year colleges. Many of the survey respondents point to two-year college as the place where they were able to find direction and cited the excellent quality of education at these colleges. American Assn of Community Colleges Communications Director Norma Kent noted that the emphasis at community college is on teaching.

Major drug firms explained their reasons why they want to maintain the prescription-only status of their allergy drugs. Schering-Plough said they believe the prescription-only status of Claritin is "the best medical option for allergy patients." Avantis admitted that their profitability in the main reason why they want to maintain Allegra's prescription drug status. Pfizer refused to discussed why it sells Zyrtec as a prescription drug in the US and Warner-Lambert said the side effects of prescription and OTC antihistamines are different.
