Article Abstract:
Independence movement leaders, students and journalists from East Timor have gone into hiding from paramilitary forces since April 1999. Nine paramilitary groups, consisting of gun-carrying East Timor civilians, were provoked into violence in April after independence movement members from the National Council of Timorese Resistance were reportedly extorting money from poor villagers for membership into the organization.

Less than 300 Australian troops in the airport complex in Baghdad are mainly administrative or in air traffic control and it is reported that they were not exposed to extra risk. It is reported that the insurgents want them dead, but the lack of Australian casualties is something, which the Australian are proud of.

Article Abstract:
The continuous threat to Timor from former militia operating inside the country has led to troubles in the country. The threats to East Timor, both internally and externally, have got worst with the Timor Gap gas revenues not due until mid 2005.
