Article Abstract:

The defeated or retired lawmakers are heading towards K Street to take up lobbying and one of the reasons is the high amount of money that the lobbyists make. The doors are believed to be revolving also as industry lobbyists from the mining, cattle and forestry products sectors had gone to senior posts in the George W. Bush administration.

How lobbyists influence lawmakers

Article Abstract:

The work of influencing lawmakers includes drafting legislation and waiting in the same lines as public interest lobbyists. A good lobbyist provides background papers, research, information that would be used on the floor of the House or Senate, which would go into a conference report and provide actual language that goes in a bill.
