Promoters are determined to expand popular support for Australia's National Soccer League (NSL). Over 1 mil fans watched NSL games in 1998, and league officials reorganized the game to increase financial stability and produce consistent play at all levels. Five international competitions are planned to be held in 1999, involving as many of the nation's 13 teams as possible.

He has steadily matured, and has become a consistent player, winning the Tennis Masters Cup, losing just one set during the tournament. He says he does not know what he will do with the $3 million prize money, since he does not own a car or a house, and just likes to play golf in his spare time
