Promoters are determined to expand popular support for Australia's National Soccer League (NSL). Over 1 mil fans watched NSL games in 1998, and league officials reorganized the game to increase financial stability and produce consistent play at all levels. Five international competitions are planned to be held in 1999, involving as many of the nation's 13 teams as possible.
