The call centers in Gurgaon, Bangalore and other cities in India are contributing to converting the poor and populous country into a technological and consumerist country while enabling multinationals like Microsoft, Cisco Systems, Visa, American Express and Telestra reduce their back office processing costs. In a federal election year the loss of jobs in the Midwest cities of the United States and Australia's politically sensitive cities has caused concerns for various political parties.
