Bank profits continue to soar

The leading six banks in Canada have reported strong earnings, with combined profits of $2.9 billion for the second quarter ended April 30, 2000. The banks also reported combined profits of $9.1 billion for the fiscal year 1999 compared with $7.1 billion in 1998.

CIBC mulls IPO for Amicus
