Start-up to take sting out of customs

Two Silicon Valley entrepreneurs have established MyCustoms, a company whose service will make it easier to buy products from around the world by automating customs procedures and computing costs for online retailers. MyCustoms' service will link with merchants' Web sites and calculate duties, tariffs, taxes and acclerate the required paperwork. MyCustoms faces stiff competition from companies providing similar services, such as From2.com, Express Action and NextLink.

Companies create way to put idle PCs to work through Net

Article Abstract:

A number of small, young firms are in the process of tapping the vast underused computing power of every computer connected to the Internet. These companies, which include United Devices, Popular Power, Parabon, Entropia and DataSynapse, are the pioneers in a field called distributed computing. The idea is to reduce a computing work into little pieces that can be farmed out to personal computers around the world.

Excite dispute leaves 850,000 without a Net
