Article Abstract:
The rising Canadian dollar has prompted US vehicle manufacturers to warn their dealers not to buy new cars or trucks in the US and try to resell them in Canada, thus reversing the situation when the low Canadian dollar caused a large number of vehicles intended for Canadians to flow to American customers. However, with Canadians enjoying price advantage, they aim to buy new models in the US, where they are more available and less expensive.

Article Abstract:
Ford Motor Co. of Canada Ltd. is cutting dealerships in Quebec, Montreal to one store. Ford has bought out four dealers and cut the number of dealerships in the area from five to three. Eventually, the company will be left with one dealership with satellite service and sales centers elsewhere in the city. The plan, known as Project Q, is the first major move made by an automaker in the area to realign the front lines of its sales organization. The move could mean that Canada may undergo the same revolution in the auto dealership industry as the US.
