Sky no longer the limit for getting e-mail on flights

Article Abstract:

Airlines are planning to offer e-mail service to their passengers for free or for a nominal fee. For example, Hong Kong-based Cathay Pacific Airways Ltd will have the service in some of its 56 jets in Jan 2000. Others, such as Virgin Atlantic Airways Ltd, American Airlines Inc and United Air Lines Inc, are also committed to have e-mail systems on their planes. According to Larry Bowe of Honeywell Inc's aviation information services, 'e-mail is the single most-requested in-flight service' among business travelers.

Northwest resumes some flights today

Article Abstract:

Northwest Airlines, in an effort to return to normalcy, is scheduled to have about 430 flights on Sep. 16, 1998. The company, which hopes to be able to return to its normal 1,700 pre-strike flights daily by Sep. 21, 1998, intends to slowly gain back the confidence of its corporate clients, including General Motors and Kmart of Troy, MI. However, indications are that the airline's efforts will meet with some resistance as its clients remain wary of future labor problems, especially since the machinists' union has already indicated the possibility of another strike.
