Article Abstract:

Opposition parties Bloc Quebecois and the Reform Party provide little competition for Prime Minister Jean Chretien, whose popularity as survived many controversies. Chretien is very good at dodging opposition attacks, and the neither of the opposition parties represent more than a segment of Canadian voters.

Article Abstract:

The popularity of the Liberal Party has made it difficult for opposition parties to gain power and prominence. Most of the smaller parties are also plagued by leadership problems and dissention. Parties profiled include the Bloc Quebecois, the Reform Party, the New Democratics and the Conservatives.
