Microsoft and Telmex plan a Latin region Web portal

Article Abstract:

Microsoft and Telefonos de Mexico S.A. announced a joint venture T1msn.com. Telmex will market the service as part of its phone service. In 2000, Telmex expects to double it's existing 10.8 mil lines, which now serve 100 mil customers. Telmex plans to offer each new subscriber a low cost computer, payments for which will appear on the phone bill. Latin American competitor, Grupo Televisa has partnered with USWeb/CKS and plans its own site, though it hasn't ruled out backing T1msn.com.
