Article Abstract:

Leonard Peltier, an American Indian falsely accused of murdering two FBI agents in 1975, is now in his 24th year of incarceration, awaiting Bill Clinton's 1992 promise to review his case. The shooting of the agents followed the American Indian Movement's (AIM) occupation of Wounded Knee, but documents show the FBI and Justice Department produced false evidence and withheld testimony at Peltier's trial.

Article Abstract:

Two court cases are being heard in Utah concerning the Mormon practice of polygamy. A 16-year-old girl claims she was forced to become her uncle's 15th wife when she was 15 years old. A group of former "sister wives" in Salt Lake City, UT, opposes plural marriage on the grounds that it fosters offenses such as welfare fraud and underage sex.

Indian giver

Article Abstract:

The brain of Ishi, the last Yahi Indian, was lost for most of the 20th century but was found in the Smithsonian Institution among 300 other preserved brains. The Smithsonian has angered Indians by refusing to return his brain to the Maidu, a visiting tribe. Ishi died in 1916 of tuberculosis and asked to be cremated.
