Makers and operators of pay telephones are scrambling to develop new technologies that will transform the ordinary pay telephone into an Internet-access communications device allowing e-mail and offering information on weather and local news. The popularity of cellular telephones has already forced the removal of many pay telephones, hurting the poorer people in the country's urban areas the most.

Dr. John Leeson, a professor of Computer Science at the School of Computer Science at the University of Central Florida, teaches and trains students and law enforcement investigators in the new field of computer forensics. As the use of computers in crime increases, the need for investigators trained in digital crime-solving methods is growing.
