Microsoft Corp's antitrust case, while without precedence in US jurisprudence, can be compared to other antitrust cases filed by federal authorities in other industries. The cases of AT and T Corp and Standard Oil, whose own splits occured following the resolution of their antitrust lawsuits, are considered successful examples of dealing with monopolistic practices because of the later successes of their progenies.

Three personal computer (PC) retailers announced on Jun 29, 2000 that they have already changed their advertisements for free and low-cost PCs. The actions made by Buy.com, Value America and Office Depot Inc is in response to the Federal Trade Commission's (FTC) charges that their print, broadcast and online advertisements were deceptive. However, the FTC did not penalize any of the companies.

Oracle reported that its earnings has more than doubled in the 3rd qtr 2000. It posted a net profit of 17 cents per share which topped analyst forecasts of 13 cents. The company's increased earnings is attributable to the roaring demand for database software and the growing use of the Internet. The trend of downloading software from the Web instead of disks has greated benefited Oracle. Its sales of database software has grown by 32% to $585 million.
