T. Eaton Company Ltd's rescue plan, codenamed Project Flower and unveiled in May 1999, failed to rescue the deprtment store chain from filing for bankruptcy. Strategies effected to turnaround the company included shifting to hip fashion lines and implementing outdated effort of being all things to everybody. Furthermore, Eaton's locations are too huge, making the company inefficient in running them.

Onex Corp has annnounced its list of principles to counter the increasing opposition to its proposal to merger Air Canada with Canadian Airlines International Ltd. Among the proposals are guarantees on airline jobs, air service to small communities, communities and foreign control. The move is seen as Onex Corp's strategy to win public support and deflect criticism away from the Canadian government.
