Nortel pushes wireless Internet access

Nortel Networks Corp. has signed "multimillion-dollar" contracts to fund research and development by two competing companies, Sierra Wireless Inc. and Xircom Inc., in an attempt to accelerate the companies' efforts and produce high-speed wireless modems.
