New nerdwear strikes a cord

Northern Telecom Ltd. is currently among the many companies that employ colorful neck cords for holding security passes. The new trend in the use of the neck wear is due to the advantages that the products present. The neck wear, which is primarily used by high-tech companies for security reasons, is also used by the company in trade shows for publicity reasons. The products, which are bought in bulk, also represent an inexpensive and efficient method for marketing the company. The neck wear are also more comfortable to wear as compared to pins and steel cords.

Philip woes don't faze Icahn; U.S corporate raider has yet to reveal plans for troubled firm

Article Abstract:

Philip Services Corp.'s legal and financial difficulties do not seem to trouble Carl Icahn, who has acquired a 12.6% interest in the firm. Analysts and shareholders were perplexed by Icahn's gesture to spend over $70 million for a troubled firm. Mr. Sbrolla, who used to be employed by Philip, said the problems faced by Philip suggest the reasons why Icahn wants it. He said Icahn sees the potential of certain operating units within Philip, which when combined with personnel, contracts, equipment and the firm's good name, would mean valuable business.
