The National Trust is an organization whose role is to save and care for old buildings, but in most states the organization is facing a crisis, uncertain of its role, riddled with snobbism, dominated by misguided enthusiasts and snubbed by government at every level. The organization is planning ways to present properties to the public in a contemporary way by making "house museums" and raising the public awareness of the heritage buildings.

Robert Gorman, the newly appointed director of the Melbourne International Festival of the Arts, plans to open The Pacific Club, similar to London's famous Groucho Club. His intentions in continuing the tradition of community engagement with the arts, by especially attracting young people to encourage novel projects in arts and all form of media are discussed.
