Alcatel to use Gehrig's famous farewell in ad

Article Abstract:

Alcatel will use baseball legend Lou Gehrig's famous 1939 farewell speech at Yankee Stadium in one of its TV spots, after concluding a deal with Gehrig estate. The French telecommunications company will reportedly alter the speech the way it modified Martin Luther King's 'I Have a Dream' address by digitally removing the spectators. Alcatel is paying six figures for Gehrig's speech, most of which would go to charities, such as the Eleanor and Lou Gehrig MDA/ALS Research Center in New York City.
