Klein to share windfall with voters

Revenues from Alberta's oil and gas industry had resulted in a C$5 billion surplus. Premier Ralph Klein, in speaking before Calgary's Chamber of Commerce, said postsecondary institutions would be receiving C$200 million and energy-rebate cheques would be sent to tax payers and businesses owing to the surplus.

Canada to donate $1-million in humanitarian aid for Iraq

Article Abstract:

The Canadian government will make a one million donation to rebuild schools, hospitals and other facilities in Iraq. The aid will be donated through the International Committee of the Red Cross and Unicef, which is also known as the United Nations Children's Fund.
