Is sexual orientation biologically determined?

Article Abstract:

Pro and con views are presented regarding whether or not homosexuality is genetically determined. On the pro side are Simon LeVay's brain studies as well as twin studies indicating a biological basis for male homosexuality. Furthermore, cultural permissiveness and parental behavior have not been clearly shown to affect a child's sexual orientation. On the con side, it is suggested that the biological studies were flawed. In addition, in the twins study, 48% of identical twins of gay men were not gay. This suggests nonbiological factors played a determining role.

Sexual abuse cases put media to the test

Article Abstract:

Reporters should be more careful when reporting on emotionally charged and legally complex cases such as that of child abuse. They should be critical about the quality of numerical data and reports of heinous deeds and should not fall victim to the sensationalism of such accounts. They should also be wary of political motives of lawyers and officials.
