Toronto, Ont.-based Inco Ltd., which is an iron mining company, invested heavily in Dulles, Va.-based America Online Inc. in 1985. AOL, which began as Quantum Computers Service Corp., sold a minority stake to Inco for about $750,000 in 1985.
