The state of Illinois is planning to hire a Canadian benefits company for helping its residents to buy cheaper drugs from Canada, Britain and Ireland defying the US import ban as tired of waiting for the Food and Drug Administration and the US Congress to provide the elderly and uninsured some relief from the unfair high drug prices. Provoked by the move, the US Food and Drug Administration threatened to take the state to court and called the Illinois scheme illegal and unsafe.
