Foreign firms ride merger wave

Foreign-owned investment banks are riding the current merger wave in Canada. The country is going through an unprecedented restructuring phase, with 1,232 merger and acquisition deals worth $177.8-billion in 1999 alone, a record in both volume and size of transactions. The trend is likely to continue through 2000.

Trading scandal hits Nesbitt
