EDS poised to buy Systemhouse

Electronic Data Systems Corp (EDS) of Plano, TX, will acquire SHL Systemhouse Inc of Ottawa, Ontario, from MCI WorldCom Inc for around $1.6 billion. The acquisition is part of a larger $17-billion asset swap deal where MCI will turn over its software development and computer operations to EDS in a $5 billion-$7 billion deal through 2010, while EDS will transfer its networking operations to MCI in a $6 billion-$8.5-billion deal. The acquisition will combine EDS's computer outsourcing with Systemhouse's strength in systems integration and design.

Canada Post in dispute over Internet domain name

Article Abstract:

Canada Post Corp is asking the British Columbian Supreme Court to rule in its favor regarding the use of an Internet domain name. Canada Post said that software firm CyPost Corp should refrain form using www.cypost.com because it will confuse customers who will be using its online business sites, www.cyberpost.com and www.cyberposte.com. CyPost has been using the domain name since 1997 to sell its e-mail security software products.
