Court allows Iridium creditors to sue Motorola for billions

Article Abstract:

U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Cornelius Blackshear agreed with creditors that Motorola operated Iridium into a losing situation, controlled the company even after it went public, and funneled funs from the satellite operator back to the mother company. $2 billion in damages against Motorola and $3.5 billion in damages from Iridium is requested. Motorola said the ruling circumvents bankruptcy court actions.

More Losers in Funds Seek Equity in Court

Article Abstract:

There is a growing trend toward investors joining in class action lawsuits against the firms who managed their assets. The basis for the cases are that companies fraudulently inflated the value of their assets, causing investors to pay too much to buy shares. Suits against investment companies increased from 5 to 13 in the last year, but that is still a small percentage of the roughly 400 firms in the industry.
