Peter Costello, Australia's Liberal Party treasurer, appears unconcerned about what many experts feel could become a global financial crisis. The Asian crisis that began early in 1998 could last until 2001, but Costello continues to support establishing a goods and service tax that many view as unpopular and unnecessary.
