An increasing number of airports are improving customer service to include concierge services such as those found in luxury hotels. Logan Airport in Boston, MA, for instance, has such service in Terminal C to assist customers in arranging hotel and restaurant reservations and city tours, among other services. New York's Kennedy Airport also offers concierge services, mainly to help travelers reserve hotel rooms.

Casino gambling revenues have increased strongly throughout the 1990s, with Prudential Securities study reporting a 13% increase in gaming revenues to $31 billion in 1999. Industry observers expect the industry to expand further. Gaming analysts point to a number of factors driving industry growth. These include aging members of the Baby Boom generation, new casino attractions in Las Vegas, NV, less restrictive state laws, demand for gaming that exceeds supply and greater social acceptance of gambling.

Ben and Jerry's Homemade Inc, the maker of premium ice cream, and diet shake manufacturer Slim Fast Foods Co have been acquired by Unilever NV of the Netherlands. Under the terms of the agrement, the Anglo-Dutch consumer products firm will pay $2.3 billion for Florida-based Slim Fast. Unilever, which will acquire Vermont-based Ben and Jerry's for $236 million, has also agreed to donate $5 million to the Ben and Jerry's Foundation.
