Autodesk Inc., a San Rafael, CA-based company, has revised its takeover bid for Discreet Logic Inc., a Montreal, Quebec-based company, by slashing the price by nearly 9%. The two firms also raised their commitment to complete the deal by boosting the breakup and termination fees to $5 million from $2 million. Under the terms of the new deal, Discreet Logic will exchange 0.48 of its share for every Discreet Logic share, compared with its offer to 0.525 per share in the previous deal. Autodesk's VP and treasurer, Christine Tsingos, said Autodesk decided to reduce the value of its takeover offer due to shortfall in Discreet Logic's short-term earning prospects.
