Black says Post to merge with new paper

Sun Media Corp.'s The Financial Post was bought by Conrad Black and will be merged with the still-unnamed newspaper that he planned to release. The new national newspaper is set to be launched in October 1998 and will compete with the Globe and Mail across Canada. Black said that his new newspaper, which will make the Financial Post as the business section, will offer subscribers and advertisers a more attractive package deal. Black is nearing the announcement of the new name for the publication, but it is widely rumored in the industry that Black's new newspaper would be called The National Post.

Breastfeeding can spur peanut allergy, study says

A new study by Canadian researchers reveals that breastfeeding may lead to allergies among infants if their mothers ate peanuts during pregnancies. The study, which was published in the Journal of the American Medical Association, explains why 70% to 80% of children with peanut allergies have an allergic reaction when they first consume peanuts.

Farmed salmon are laced with toxins, study finds

Article Abstract:

The US study conducted on the salmon was the most extensive ever done on industrial contaminants in farmed salmon. The result revealed that the farm-raised Atlantic salmon are laced up with PCBs and other pollutants and pose an increased risk of cancer and other disease.
