Biovail reduces quarterly guidance

Mississauga-based Biovail Corp. has cut its third-quarter guidance, after a fatal traffic accident involving a tractor-trailer loaded with millions of the company's anti-depression pills. The wreck prevented a shipment of Wellbutrin XL tablets worth $15-million to $20-million from reaching GlaxoSmithKline PLC, which is Biovail's marketing partner in the venture.

Biovail faces possible FDA hitch to pain drug

The US Food and Drug Administration that has asked Biovail Corp. for more clinical information about its blockbuster pain reliever, is reported. The Mississauga-based company has not disclosed what else it has to submit to the agency for final approval of its Ralivia ER drug.
